opening fire upon their classmates and teachers on school

to violence and the all-too-easy access to guns, as well
as an inherent propensity for abnormal behavior. The
writer gives an overview of the various reasons children
act with violence, as well as ways to deter such behavior.
Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Children
Should Not Be Punished As Adults
[ send
me this paper ]
A 4 page paper which argues that children, or young
adults, should not be treated as adults in relationship to
the legal system and law regarding punishment. Children
are children and regardless of their crime, they are not
mature enough to understand the real consequences of their
actions. One argument given relates to the fact that the
prison system will only further their life of crime, and
therefor has proven to ineffective in deterring crime. In
addition, an alternative is illustrated, whereby these
violent children can be sentenced to their own institution
that is not part of the average detention center, not part
of the adult prison system. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

Conflict
Theory as it Relates to Juvenile Delinquency
[ send
me this paper ]
In 8 pages the author discusses conflict theory as it
relates to juvenile delinquency. Juvenile delinquency is
seen as a serious problem in the American society.
Students in sociology and criminology need to be grounded
in the reasons behind this widespread occurrence. One of
the many theories that has been applied to juvenile
delinquency, is conflict theory. Conflict theory is,
basically, the theory that because of conflicts (strife,
struggles, disagreements), the juvenile becomes a
delinquent individual. Bibliography lists 12 Sources.

Prevention.
[ send
me this paper ]
(6 pp) Our classroom-generated assignment asks us to
determine the nature of the crime in our community. In
order to do that the Uniform Crime Report, which has been
in place since the 1940's we will need the number of
crimes reported to the police, the crimes cleared by
arrest, and the age, gender race of offender, and also use
crimes reported by victims and the socio-demographics of
victims. Once the type of crime prevalent in the community
has been established a program will be developed to
address that crime and crime issue. Bibliography lists one

behaviors in evidence prior to the divorce or did they
occur after the divorce. This is a hypothetical six-year
longitudinal study. Sections include: abstract,
introduction, research question and hypotheses, literature
review, results and conclusion. 2 tables are included.

Illiteracy
And Juvenile Delinquency
[ send
me this paper ]
10 pages in length. The notion that illiteracy is directly
associated with the incidence of juvenile delinquency has
received significant consideration within the
psychological and educational communities. Clearly, if an
individual does not possess the ability to read or write,
the mere act of obtaining – much less advancing in – a
good job is out of reach. Additionally, the basics of life
represent the utmost frustration and anger, such as
understanding simple directions or being self-motivated,
which ultimately leads to a significant sense of failure.
Combine that with the social stigma inherently associated
with illiteracy, and this creates one considerably
maladjusted youth whose inability to read and write breeds
hopelessness and juvenile delinquency. Bibliography lists
10 sources.

Impact
of Juvenile Detention Centers
[ send
me this paper ]
In 10 pages the author discusses the impact of juvenile
detention centers. Although the extent of juvenile justice
has changed in many ways, one thing remains constant. That
is what to do with juvenile offenders. Juvenile detention
centers play an important role in the lives of young
criminals. That role can be either a positive one or a
negative one. There are both pros and cons to the impact
of juvenile detention centers on youths. Although some
young people get a mere slap on the wrist for their
delinquent/criminal behavior, others can get the death
penalty at an early age in some states. Bibliography lists
8 sources.

Juvenile
Crime and The Sealed Record
[ send
me this paper ]
A short, 3 page argument about how the juvenile justice
system is failing and youthful offenders are not being
deterred from committing more crimes. The writer argues
that a 15 year-old delinquent should share many of the
same penalties for committing an offense that a 22
year-old delinquent would for committing the same offense.
Most important to the discussion is the idea that a
juvenile's record should not be "hidden" after
they've reached adulthood. Individual members of society
should be able to make judgments based on someone's entire
record and then determine whether or not crimes of their
childhood are worthy of special attention. No

Juvenile
Delinquency & The Home Social Environment
[ send
me this paper ]
In 12 pages the author writes 2 chapters on the topic of
juvenile delinquency and the home/social environment. The
introductory of the paper states: "The issue of
juvenile delinquency and the home/social environment is
one of major concern to families, schools, law enforcement
agencies and society as a whole. There has been an influx
of juvenile delinquents in today's society, ranging from
those who are involved in truancy, to gang activity, to
those who are convicted murderers. Juvenile delinquency is
prevalent across the nation. There is not one certain
paradigm of pedagogy for this occurrence. Juvenile
delinquency is cross-cultural and cross-racial. It does
not know any restrictions on socio-economic class or
religion. When measured by official statistics, the
problem of juvenile delinquency is staggering. In an
attempt to address the issue of juvenile delinquency in
the home/social environment, the focus of juvenile
delinquency has been directed at the home of the
individual and the social environment in which he exists.
This is done in order to better understand the causes
behind the delinquent behavior of the individual."

Juvenile
Gangs.
[ send
me this paper ]
(6 pp) Generally, for purposes of this discussion, a gang
can be considered to be a loosely organized group of
individuals who collaborate together for social reasons.
Modern day gangs also collaborate for anti-social reasons.
Gangs generally have a leade, or group of leaders, who
issue orders and often profit from the gang's activities.
A gang claims group identity through "their
colors", certain types of clothing, tattoos, brands,
or other gang ID. Many gangs also adopt certain types of
hairstyles and communicate through the use of hand signals
and graffiti on walls, streets, school work, and school
property. It should be acknowledged, that, it is not
illegal to be in a gang, and indeed many adults are
currently involved in activities that meet Webster's
definition for a gang. However, many gangs of today,
especially youthful gangs, break the law to provide
funding for gang activities or to further the gang's
territory, or reputation on "the streets."

[ send

An 18 page paper which examines whether or not juvenile
offenders should be tried as adults. In presenting this
examination the paper also discusses the history of
juvenile justice, illustrating how juveniles were often
treated as adults. The paper leans towards juveniles being

treatment, but also argues that much more research, and
many more approaches, need to be implemented prior to
making such a broad ruling. Bibliography lists 15 sources.

[ send

A 5 page research essay exploring incidence of crimes
among retarded adolescents. The reasons for retarded
adolescents becoming involved in criminal behavior and the
likelihood of their getting caught are among the many
things discussed. Misunderstandings can occur easily
between the police official and the retarded adolescent
for numerous reasons, one of which is that officials have
little, if any, training in interviewing mentally retarded
people and another is that the retarded adolescent odten
does not reveal his or her condition to the police
officer. Bibliography included.

Minorities,
Crime and Social Policy: Trying a Child as an Adult
[ send
me this paper ]
A 16 page review of the problem of violence among
juveniles. Asserts that while minorities are perceived by
many to be responsible for, and victims of, a greater
degree of juvenile violence; in reality the problem of
juvenile violence obeys neither racial nor geographic
lines of demarcation. Examines the growing trend of trying
and sentencing the perpetrators of such crimes as adults.
Reviews the issues of this trend and emphasizes while such
practices may indeed be justified they do little to
alleviate juvenile violence on the whole. Notes that this
task often falls to the school system. Reviews the efforts
of one Florida project to alleviate juvenile violence.
Emphasizes the importance and success of incorporating
conflict resolution training into this endeavor.

(6pp) I thought of her one-size-fits all story when we
were talking about "zero tolerance." If this
were not a school paper, I would just say that it
"sucks," and leave it at that, because I think
that the zero tolerance policy is similar to that one size
fits all shirt deal. I can understand that parents have
been freaked out by all the violence stuff that has been
on the news and at other schools. It is a scary thing. I
agree with that. I do not think that guns or alcohol
belong in school, but our school handbook says that there
will be "zero tolerance" for "unacceptable
behavior; disrespect to staff," or guns. Anybody who
needs to bring a gun to school has zero brain cells - so
they should get into trouble for that Bibliography lists 3

"Status offenders" are juveniles convicted of
crimes that would not be considered such if they were
adults. For example, running away from home, truancy,
etc.; are all considered to be criminal activities only by
juvenile courts. This 6 page research paper analyzes the
controversy surrounding the penalties given to status
offenders and the likelihood that probation will become
the most viable answer to the problem. The opinions of
reputed caseworkers are cited to evidence the idea that
while harsher sentences for status offenders must be ruled
out, the lack of some penalty is unacceptable and
therefore, probation-style programs are the most likely
answer to the problem. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Sentencing
of Juvenile Criminal as Adults
[ send
me this paper ]
( 5 pp) Sentencing youth to incarceration can never be the
sole solution to delinquency and crime. However, public
fears about juvenile delinquency and crime have escalated
in recent years, boosted in part by a handful of
headline-grabbing incidents that foster stereotypes of
young people as out of control. It is not as though these
incidents do not happen, sadly they do. However, the doubt
which it engenders in society's mind concerning its youth
is equally damaging. One proposed solution is to sentence
and incarcerate juveniles as adults. Bibliography lists 8

Current Status Of Juvenile Delinquency
[ send
me this paper ]
15 pages in length. The current status of juvenile
delinquency reflects a growing concern toward core family
breakdown and environmental influences. Clearly, the
family structure is not a solid representation of strength
and support as it has been considered in the past; rather,
contemporary juveniles are often left to raise themselves
amidst social, economic and political barriers that
inevitably transform into delinquent behavior. As well,
such environmental factors as poor academic guidance also
stands to instigate negative behavior. Bibliography lists

Family Role in Juvenile Delinquency.
[ send

(5 pp) It used to be popular to" blame" Mom for
everything that went wrong in the lives of her children.
We have moved a little past that, and now look at the role
of "the family" in juvenile delinquency. While
it is necessary to keep in mind, that "mom" may
still be the "only" family, we have also added
to that parental role in the form of extended family
members, the neighborhood and role models as ways to help
keep our children away from delinquency. Bibliography

Many Manifestations of Aggression in Children
[ send
me this paper ]
A 13 page overview of the different manifestations of
aggression which occur among our nation’s young people.
Notes the importance of both environment factors and
genetic factors in determining the form aggression will
take. Suggests that by far boys are more likely to exhibit
the more serious forms of aggression than are girls and
that the intensity of this exhibition increases rather
than decreases with age. Devotes particular attention to
the problems of verbal aggression, sexual harassment, and
acts of over violence. Defines each and examines the
different manifestations of each which have occurred
during the last few years. These forms of aggression, in
particular, are suspected to be the result of deeply
rooted psychological problems. This paper suggests that
the increase in aggression which we have experienced over
the last few years is directly correlated with a decline
in societal mores and norms but emphasizes that it is also
important to remember that various physiological and
genetic factors can be at play as well. Bibliography lists
9 sources.
